Name: Anael Door: Left, but this month every door leads to submission anyway~ Canon: Supernatural Canon Point: S15E13 'Destiny's Child' |
Age: You don't ask a lady that! Appearance: female, long red hair, brown eyes, 5'7'', slim but curvy built History: Here - since her appearance in S15E13 is not included I will briefly outline what we learn about her there and what she does in the episode: In trying to find the Occultum, an object Death tasked Team Free Will 2.0 with finding in order to prepare Jack for his fight against God, Castiel learns that Anael once received the Occultum as payment for healing the son of an influencial family. Sam and Dean then seek her out at the community center she currently holds 'Pray with Sister Jo' at and find her there, counting the money she made off people she healed that day. When confronted, Anael claims to have given the Occultum to the demon Ruby to hide in hell. The viewer is shown a flashback depicting Ruby coming to meet Anael and suggesting she sell the rare, valuable item. When Sam and Dean go looking for the Occultum in hell they are unable to find it and are ambushed by some demons instead, who tell them that they have been told to do so by Anael in exchange for their freedom from hell. This is obviously not a promise she planned to make good on. Meanwhile Castiel goes to the Empty to ask Ruby herself about the Occultum's location. Before telling him where it can be found the viewer is treated to an alternate version of events from Ruby's point of view, in which Anael seeks Ruby out instead and gives her the Occultum to hide, so the two of them can survive the apocalypse Michael and Lucifer are about to unleash upon the world. While it seems like either depiction of events makes sense, each of them makes the respective narrator appear in a better light. It's unclear which one is closer to the truth. Anael is last seen packing up her belongings to leave for another town, clearly intending to hide before the Winchesters come back for her. As she is leaving, a disabled man approaches her, asking her for help but she rebuffs him and leaves. She cryptically tells him to 'not make friends' as they 'always ask to much of you', possibly referring to her deal and strange friendship with Ruby. What's particularly notable about this episode is that it contradicts the fact that Anael previously claimed to have fallen alongside the other angels at the beginning of S9, yet she is shown to already have walked the earth in her current vessel while Ruby was still alive in S4. One line even suggests that she met Ruby in her previous vessel ('Nice vessel. Suits you better than the blonde.') which would put her on earth as early as S3. It is possible and even likely, given her deceptive nature, that she previously lied about when she came to earth and subsequently how she took her vessel. CR AU (Optional): N/A Personality: Positive Trait: While Anael might scoff at you if you implied for her to be so, she is caring in nature. This is evident in canon because she constantly uses her angelic powers to heal people in need - the sick, the elderly, the scarred and disabled - who flock to her, waiting for their chance to be touched by her hands in exchange for the measly price of 300$. While she would be able to return the people she healed to their original state after payment without facing repercussions since she travels the country offering her skills at churches and community centers, she never does so, instead leaving them to live out their life healthier and without pain. When Castiel comes to her and asks for her help, she goes with him, genuinely trying to help her brother when she could just as well turn him away or leave early once she gets annoyed with him and the situation. Likewise, when Lucifer seeks her out and makes her his right hand woman, she genuinely tries to improve heaven and help the remaining angels, getting angry when Lucifer admits that he cannot keep his promises to aid her in that. Negative Trait: A constant in her life is Anael's opportunistic nature. She sees an opportunity to get herself into a more advantageous position and will grab it, usually disregarding how that may affect others. An instance of this would be her readily agreeing to let a weak Lucifer repeatedly feed on her grace to avoid being drained. As she starts to connect with him on a more personal level, she sees the possibility to use him to raise her own station and returns to Heaven by his side as his right hand woman or - as he puts it - 'First Lady'. While she doesn't appear to be romantically interested in him at all, she keeps reassuring him in a way that makes it seem like she is, all to stay in his side and manipulate him into considering her his sole supporter. When Sam, Dean and Castiel find her with Lucifer, she quickly switches sides, telling them a story about how Lucifer threatened her and made her help him - which couldn't be further from the truth since she was the one to suggest the bargain in the first place. In this moment however, she deems it more advantageous for herself to be seen as a victim of Lucifer's since she might be killed alongside him by the Winchesters if they knew the truth. Negative Trait: Anael is greedy in that she enjoys owning and surrounding herself with pretty things, clothes in particular, and takes money for her work as a faith healer. She does not openly take the money for herself but instead has a sign sitting on her desk next to her cashbox that reads "For the Fallen - 300$", which leads the vulnerable people that visit her to believe they are donating money to soldiers who died in combat, but Anael is referring to fallen angels, namely herself, instead. Negative Trait: Anael is very self-involved in general, ultimately always putting herself first. If presented with two options, she'll pick whatever serves her better even at the detriment of others. While she has a comfortable position as Lucifer's right hand she nevertheless stands up for her own beliefs and when Lucifer nearly kills her, she turns on her heel and leaves him and heaven behind even when that means that she will not be able to improve Heaven or help the other angels anymore. When presented with the opportunity to help her brother Castiel, she asks what might be in it for her instead of just helping him because it is the morally good thing to do. She wants to help the angels and Heaven, yes, but ultimately she wants to help herself, get her own wings back and not have to worry about Heaven collapsing completely, affecting her healing powers - which afford her luxuries she wants to surround herself with - and possibly negatively affecting earth as well. Canon Abilities: Knowledge of History and Enochian Lore, Angel Blade Wielding*, Strategy, Deception, Likability, Manipulation * We never see Anael fight with it in canon, but it can be presumed that all angels own an angel blade and know how to wield it. It stands to reason that she isn't much of a fighter since she seems to avoid physical conflicts as a rule, yet she is able to knock Sam Winchester into a wall easily, owing to her angelic superstrength. Inventory: her angel blade, the earrings Castiel gave her & her lockbox - filled with currency that is worthless here Samples: Both on the TDM here |
Elaboration on Powers
Date: 2023-05-21 05:02 pm (UTC)► Astral Projection: The ability to project a part of the angel's true self outwards. Anael's brother Castiel uses this ability in canon to make his wings visible. I formerly marked this as 'Removed in game' but now that I think about it, it is really only the ability to prove that she is an angel, so I would rather keep it intact if allowed.
► Chronokinesis: The ability to travel to the past and take other beings there. Will be fully removed.
► Dream Walking: The ability to enter another individual's dreams to communicate and interact with them. Will be included on an opt in/opt out post on Anael's journal.
► Electromagnetic Interference: Angels can cause lights to flicker, spark, or explode. This mostly happens when an angel is distressed or as a display of power. In fanon it's often assumed that they can affect lightbulbs that way during sexual climax, which is what I would like to include too.
► Healing: Anael has the ability to use her grace to heal others, something she regularly is seen doing in canon in exchange for money. This includes the removal of scars and pain, as well as closing up fresh wounds and sobering a person up instantly after they have ingested alcohol or drugs with a simple touch.
► Immortality/Invulnerability: Angels are incredibly hard to kill in canon. The only weapon they have a weakness to is angel blades, their usual weapon of choice. This will be removed in game, so Anael will can be injured or even killed by other means as well, much like a human would.
► Regeneration: When injured, an angel's grace heals their vessel up a lot more quickly than a human would heal in the same amount of time. This ability will be diminished, so if normally her grace would allow for Anael to heal up within an hour and the normal amount for a human would be 4 days, she will now heal up in 2 days e.g.
► Smiting: Angels are able to push their grace into another being and basically burn them out from the inside, leaving their eyes fully burnt out. This is an angel's preferred method of killing demons. It's an ability that will leave Anael utterly drained if used since her grace has been weakened since the angels were expelled from heaven. I will nerf this to her merely being able to hurt someone if needed, but since Anael isn't a fighter in general, it's unlikely for her to use this ability at all except to defend herself.
► Sedation: The ability to put a human to sleep with a touch of her fingers.
► Localization: The ability to sense the location of another being.
► Superstrength: Being powered by the angel's grace inside, a human vessel is much stronger than the body would otherwise be. Thus Anael is able to throw someone against a wall easily, even if they are much bigger than her, such as shown in canon when she briefly fights Sam Winchester and is able to knock him into a wall. Her physical strength will be diminished in game but still be surprising for a woman of her stature.
► Telekinesis: The ability to move an object from a few feet away. Can be removed but is rarely used in canon anyway. I only listed it for completion's sake to be honest.
► Telepathy: Angels can read other being's thoughts. Will be included in an opt in/opt out post on Anael's journal!
► Teleportation: The ability to appear in another location with a single beat of her wings. Has been taken from her because of the angel being expelled from heaven (end of S8), which burnt up all angel's wings, even those located on earth at the time.
► Spell Casting: In Anael's case this includes the knowledge and ability necessary to draw protective sigils in Enochian - the language of angels - to protect against or hide from other angels or demons. Since anyone in Supernatural seems to be able to cast actual spells, she would also be able to do that but it would necessitate having the appropriate ingredients and spell written down in a lore or spell book. So, it's not like she can make anything appear out of thin air or attack someone using magic at all. The latter seems to be an ability only witches have in Supernatural. Overall, Anael is never shown to use spells in canon, but it would make sense for her to use protective sigils since she has been living on earth for a long time and doesn't want to be found by other angels or possible enemies.
► Mental Manipulation: The ability to alter another being's perception or memories. Will also be included in the opt in/opt out post.
► Hearing Prayers directed at her: Exactly what it says on the tin. Anael can hear prayers if they are addressed to her. It's a one way street, though, so she cannot answer them by praying back or anything like that. An intense sense of longing towards her would also be perceivable in the same way but would need a strong bond between her and the other person.
► Soul Reading: The ability to assess the condition of one's soul. This can be used to determine the condition or presence/absence of a soul in a body. It can also be used to find out if anyone has placed a claim on someone's soul via a deal. Will be included in the opt in/opt out post.
