I appreciate the offer, but I don't know if that'd be a good idea. Taking another angel's grace was always frowned upon, wasn't it? Could have consequences.

Oh believe me. I always have been. The bravest thing I have ever done was desert heaven and that was me running away.

Well ... I have never taken another's grace but I have given it and I am alright. It restored itself, the way it usually does. I am not sure if it has happened for him yet because I can never fully recall how much our times or origin differ but the other Castiel has taken another angel's grace before.

I think there is bravery in being willing to die for a cause or for someone. And to fight for the same things. But then again I have never had something that would compare.

It'd be better for you to ask him about the details. He was known for it for a while ... he did what he had to to survive in my opinion. Others didn't agree.

But then again maybe I am not the best person to ask about these matters. I too am notorious in a way. I did give my grace to survive, after all. I doubt I wouldn't have taken it as well if it had been necessary.

All that's gone now, anyway. He died. I died. It's over.

I know some of it, but it doesn't surprise me that the other angels hated him. They hated me. Maybe they would've let me back in if I'd given up on the Earth and repented, but I'll never know.

Well, you've got guts to tangle with Lucifer. I saw him a few times, and I felt like a mouse in the jaws of a lion. He could've bitten down at any time. I still don't know why he didn't.

They are a judgmental sort, so it's unsurprising, true. Had you put heaven first, then they might have. My own return wasn't as appreciated as I'd have hoped but that too is understandable. One doesn't simply waltz in there with the Morningstar in tow, I suppose.

Desperation sometimes drives one to extremes, I suppose. Both his and mine. He nearly killed me, too, but it was ... strange. He seemed almost sad.

No. I am sure he wasn't. But his experiences in your world and mine also must have been quite different. I don't know. I probably saw something I wanted since I wanted to matter somehow. [ Not to him in particular. Just to someone. Anyone. It's why she came running when Castiel called. ]

Sorry, I guess just find it pretty difficult to give a shit about his feelings. But we can't really help who we get attached to. My life might've been pretty different if we could.

The reason was that heaven was in desperate need of angels and ... when I met Lucifer he was weak, without any access to his grace at all. He had just drained another angel nearby, but it wasn't enough. We struck a deal: my grace, given willingly with enough time in between for it to restore itself, in exchange for his help with the angel population. He made me believe that he was able to create regular angels, but of course, he had lied.

I wouldn't call myself attached. Stupid and mislead seems more like it.

Well, if there's anyone who could dupe another angel, it's Lucifer. There were plenty in the ranks that thought he was in the right, even if they didn't have the balls to follow him, though I suppose most are probably dead by now.

I didn't think he was right. I didn't follow him. Though I am sure that Duma was sure I did. I just hoped desperately that he would save heaven. I hadn't even been there for years but that doesn't mean I want it gone.

They are completely different things, are they not? You think I was attached?

I don't know. Actually, Anael, I don't think I wanna talk about Lucifer anymore. What have you been up to here? In the city? I was gone for a whole month. Fill me in. What's been going on?

Me? Up to? Not much, to be frank. I came back here almost 4 months ago and basically went back to how I had been before. I have my job at Creature Comforts and I help out at the Clinic. The only thing of note to really happen is my contract.

I'm sorry to disappoint you but my life isn't very interesting.

I wasn't expecting entertainment. I'm just curious. Even when I was here before, I didn't get out much. I was trying to adjust, and then we all had those nightmares.

And after that, the rain started.

The rain was terrible. Makes me very grateful to no longer be living in the Down, at the very least.

McCoy let me stay with him, and then Cas set me up for a night, but I had to go back after that. My roommate fixed the apartment, though. I think he probably called someone in...

as a contract partner? McCoy's a good guy. If he still has an open slot by the time I need it, maybe that'll work out.

Ben? Yeah, Ben's great. We're a lot alike, actually. I never met my last roomie, so it's a step up.

I have had two roommates I never really interacted with, so I understand that. It's preferable to having to interact with someone you do not get along with, I assume.

Similar interests. He also enjoys partaking in drugs and wild sex. I'm not really into the parties, but I don't think we're gonna be having any in the apartment, so no big deal.

I am not going to advise you to go out more because I'd have to practice what I preach.

Yeah, I have. Honestly, I'd be fine with living off my camclone, but if I can find some of that tea, I imagine I'm gonna have pay for it. And the fact that I'm looking for it specifically in the first place mean's my hand's already played.
